26. Random

So, we’re back home from the ‘Burgh, I’ve unpacked, made turkey broth that I’ll freeze tomorrow and done a load of laundry. Next on the docket is bad tv, more laundry and crashing while meaning to read a new book.

That’s how I roll. Early to bed meaning to read until 2am. Reality: early to bed, passed out drooling in 10 minutes.

Woooooo! Party!

(I promise to tell you a good story tomorrow)

25. Insane

OK. I’m going to go. I’m going to go to the bead store. Then I’m going to Michael’s. Hold me.

The bead store should be fine. Michael’s is going…to be ok. But it’s by the mall. Hold me.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

The bead store was good. And it was empty. Michael’s was full, the mall was insane. But I lived to tell the tale. And I got good stuff! And I learned something new & horrid. Michael’s is open on Thanksgiving for 6 hours. They beat Target, Best Buy & the like to the punch 6 years ago.

24.

I hope everyone has had a lovely, fun day filled with food, family, friends.
We had a great day. I helped cook, ate great food & drank excellent wine.

I’m thankful for so many things today & try to be be grateful everyday. The more you are grateful for abundance and the love, the more abundance and love come back to you.

23. Indulged

What did I eat last night? What did I drink? Actually, what didn’t I eat last night?

I took a huge break from previously scheduled eating (non eating) plans and ate. Like potato chips, Brie, mussels. Not all in one sitting, but over the course of the evening I ate “all of the above”.

And my body doesn’t like it. We’ll be back to the previously scheduled lean meats, veggies and salad tomorrow. Yep, even on Thanksgiving.

22. It Turns

I’ve been enjoying our unseasonably incredible Fall weather.  I’ve kind of had a little love affair with Fall this year.  In Cleveland, it’s usually 90 degrees, then 50 degrees for 3 weeks and then it’s Winter.  Not this year.  It’s been pretty cold a few nights, we had one good hard frost.  We had a morning where there was slush, SLUSH, on our cars.  And I threatened to UNFOLLOW Winter.  But all of that unpleasantness really distilled down to about 4 days.  All the others?  Glorious.

But Fall has been marching on, it’s dark now at 6 p.m.  Completely dark.  My precious snap dragon-sezzes are gasping their last chilly, snargled breath.  But they’re holding on to the last few dramatic buds.

The sedum (is that what these are?) are in their glory.  They’re a beautiful color of dusty pink in August and turn this lovely rusty color.  Excellent.  I’ll leave these all winter.  So I can look out the kitchen window and imagine when the backyard was a riot of color.

Sweet mischievous Kokopelli rules the back yard.  There’s plenty of choas here, all year round.  He gets to go inside for the Winter though.  I don’t want him to get too rusty and retire at a premature age.  But he’ll be back in the spring around when the tulips come to visit.

And the hydrangea.  I think this could possibly be my favorite.  Don’t tell anyone else in the yard though.  Grandma gave me this.  She dug it out of her garden, so that was kind of back in the day.  I put it in and it has absolutely gone crazy since.  It’s in a terrible spot, right next to the drive way, right where we pile the snow.  Right where my car hits it every time I leave the drive.  And it thrives.

So, Fall, keep quietly slipping away.  The chair is empty.  All the potted “friends” that surrounded you are asleep in the veggie garden.  The one huge pot of pretties you held is in the compost.  Don’t worry, they’ll all be back next year.  Right after the tulips bloom.

21. This.

This is what’s happening because I’m making myself write a little bit every day.  I’m feeling more creative.  Doing more creative things.  And I’m feeling a little more bright and optimistic than I normally feel at this time of year.

So, there’s that.  I’m happy.  I’m having fun.  And I’m being super creative.

As an aside, I’ve cleaned some of those muddled, forgotten spaces.  This too, might be helping me loosen up.  I’ve even cleaned spaces I use all the time.  Namely my clothes closet, my bathroom cabinets and the spare bedroom.  Yep.  Those most used, ridiculously serpentine places I use every day.  They are freakin’ clean. And a lot less serpentine.  A little more “Straight”.

Next on the hit list is:

  • the kitchen
  • my desk
  • my mail pile in the kitchen (!! @drunkdude69 )
  • the garage

I better go get on the garage now…it’s gonna get cold soon.

20. Decoupage

20111120-204403.jpg

I’ve been laughing about the pronunciation & spelling of decoupage for years now. And I’m actually doing it. I needed to give newly painted shelves have a little zip. I found some “by the pound” paper discounted at a stationery store & decided to make a collage type-thing with Mod Podge.

I sanded the drawer fronts and cut up the paper. I didn’t want to plan too much. I wanted it to be a free-form thing. I pasted the pieces of paper randomly and made sure to poke holes through for the hardware.

Here’s the paper I chose.  Yes, they paper is a little sparkly.

Here’s the work in progress. The Mod Podge is still a bit wet. I promise to post pictures when I’m through.
