Slightly Off Put and Irritated

I just did this.  I’m calling myself out.

Yesterday I was irritated by the “business as usual” I found on the internet when there was a full blown crisis going on.  Hurricane Sandy and her aftermath were causing chaos in the Northeast and the Midwest.  Lives and property were in the balance and people were talking about what to have for dinner and what to wear to the Halloween party next weekend.  Power was for out millions of people, fires raged and a storm surge was enveloping and destroying hundreds of miles of coastline.  And people were auto-posting tweets about a new fabulous product and auto-posting blogs about the latest handbag, shoes and sparkly outfit.  Granted, I was reading these things too but….

The wind was gusting up to 50 mph off of Lake Erie destroying property, uprooting trees and knocking down utility poles.  We were all pausing, waiting for the power to come back on.  Hoping that it would be soon.  It was snowing like a banshee in West Virginia…it was flooding in New Jersey, New York and Delaware.  And people were still being shallow.

And I just posted, finally, a weird post about “things I find at work”  And I’m kind of ok with that.  I think I need the distraction.

The aftermath of the storm and it’s destruction has only started.  Volunteers and money are sorely needed in the areas affected by the storm.

If you’d like to donate money to The Red Cross, you can do so right here.

If you’d like to donate blood or platelets to The Red Cross, go here.

And if you’d like to volunteer, go here.

Thank you for listening to me vent and to my public service announcement.  Now, back to my regularly scheduled updates on sparkles, shenanigans and fancy shoes.
