So, we’re doing it again.  Yep, you said it, we’re crazy.  (We kind of are.)

We’re participating in another Century Ride for Team in Training.  This will be our 6th event.

We’ve earned our Triple Crown but we cannot rest on our laurels.

The event is June 9th in Geauga County.  I know that, in general, Cleveland is pretty flat.  Geauga County isn’t too far away, but it’s pretty hilly.  Ohio hills aren’t very tall or very long, but they do tend to be pretty steep.  So, I’m going to say that we have our work cut out for us.

100 miles?  How many days does it take you to ride the full 100 miles?”

“Ummm, one day.  We ride the entire distance in one day.”

“Hahaha!  That’s funny and a little crazy.  I don’t like to drive my car 100 miles, let alone a bike.”

Why do we do these insane events?

My mother passed away when I was two.  She had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and battled the disease for 6 months.  DD’s Uncle Billy had the disease too and also passed at a very young age.  We do these events to remember our family members and friends.  We do these events to honor those who are currently battling the disease.  We raise money to support research in Northeastern Ohio.  78 percent of the money we raise goes directly to the cause.

As much as I will, no doubt, bitch and complain about early morning rides, sore sit bones and the like it’s really nothing compared to what someone goes through while being treated for cancer.  So, I’ll ride my heart out, train and bask in the fun of a long, long ride in June.
